General Information
The Faculty of Fine and Applied Decorative Arts of Togliatti State University invites international students to join the International Art and Design Summer School of Togliatti State University and explore Russia, its culture and art treasures together with students of the Sharonovs’ School of jewelry design.
Togliatti State University is a prominent member of Russian education community with world-wide links in teaching and research. The university is located in the city of Togliatti - a unique place in the very heart of Russia, which history dates back to 1737.
The city is surrounded by the woods and offers picturesque views of the Volga River. Its proximity to the National Park ‘Samarskaya Luka’, the river, and the Zhiguly Mountains makes it a wonderful place for hiking, mountaineering, water sports, and photography.
Today Togliatti offers its dwellers and guests a wide range of entertaining activities and places to visit: Auto VAZ technical museum (a unique open-air military machinery museum), local history museum, theaters, movie theatres, music performances and festivals, and traditional Rusian street markets.
Cost of the Summer School: 590 Euros. The cost covers all the in-country travel, food during the expedition (group menu), classes at the studio and materials, official invitation for the visa, and stay at the university dormitory for the Togliatti Part of the school (two people in a room). Most museums will be free, but some of the major museums like those in Moscow will charge entrance fee. The information will be available later at TSU website (www.tltsu.ru English version).
Additional expenses:
¨ Medical insurance.
¨ Food during the Togliatti part and any additionals to the regular group menu during the expedition. An average cost of lunch at the university café is € 3.
¨ A meal at a regular city café is about € 6, at a restaurant – € 12.
¨ Taking pictures insome museums.
¨ Transportation around Togliatti € 1.5 per day.
¨ Entertainment.

The Sharonov's School
The Sharonovs’ School of jewelry design provides a unique opportunity for the students to go through all stages of the jewelry manufacturing process from the sketch to the project and the model, and finally to the complete product of the finest quality. While creating jewelry pieces the students use unexpected combination of brass, copper, German silver, aluminum, selicon, plastic, glass, natural stone, bones, acrylic, vinyl, rubber, fur, and other materials. The students of the Sharonovs’ School have been awarded top prizes of many Russian and International exhibitions, festivals and contests in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Yaroslavl, Samara, Colmar, Wolfsburg, Paris, London, Turin, Rome and Valletta. 6 students of the Sharonovs’ School are now the members of the International Association “Society of Designers”.

Expedition
During the expedition the students will not only visit famous and unique museum expositions, but also practice in sketching of the nature and architecture.
The main target: learn to see future jewelry piece (a ring, earrings, a brooche and etc.) in the shapes of the nature and architecture.
Please be aware that during the expedition period the students will stay at camping overnights. Tents will be provided but please bring a sleeping bag with you or you will have to purchase one in Togliatti. Despite the stereotype the Central Russia has warm summers and July is the warmest month!

4 July Departure from Togliatti. During the expedition you will travel by a comfortable bus and see the most beautiful and distinguished places of the Central Russia.
Kazan Visit to the Kazan Kremlin, historical center of the city. Camping near the Volga River.
Nizhny Novgorod The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
Mstyora The Mstyora Gallery. Jewelry factory. The Monastery of the Epiphany. Camping near the Tara River.
Bogolyubovo The Church of the Intercession on the Nerl (built in 1165).
Vladimir The Golden Gates (12 century). The Cathedral of the Assumption painted by the great Andrei Rublev and Daniil Chyorny in 1408. The cathedral of St. Demetrius (1193-1197) – the unique monument of whitewashed architecture of the Vladimir-Suzdal Rus.
Suzdal Visit to the Kremlin, original territory of Suzdal in 10 century. Russian Crafts and Arts in 10-20 centuries. Wooden Architecture Museum. Restoration-Art School. Camping near the Kamenka River.
Krasnoe-on-the-Volga Visit to the Krasnoselsky Jewelry Factory and Krasnoselsky School of Decorative Metalforming.
Kostroma Historic center of the city. The Hypatian Monastery. Camping near the Volga River.
Yaroslavl Visit to the Yaroslavl Kremlin. Exhibitions: «Decorative Silver of Yaroslavl (16-18 centuries)», «Yaroslavl Icons (13-20 centuries)».
Rostov Veliky (Rostov the Great) The Rostov Kremlin. The jewelry factory «Rostov Enamel». Studios of Associations of the Union of Artists.
Borisoglebsk The Kremlin. Camping on the bank of the River Ustje.
Moscow Historic center of Moscow. The Kremlin's State Diamond Fund. The Kremlin Armoury.
14 July – Arrival in Togliatti.
15 July – 29 July Workshops at the jewelry design school
Workshops
The students are supposed to make a plastic form and a wax model of the future jewelry item. Then it will be cast in bronze and to perform the finishing work on the item.
On completion of the International Аrt and Design Summer School the students will be awarded with certificates (5 ECTS credits).
