Development of research is one of the main activity areas of TSU.

Research in TSU today is:

• About 17 research areas (scientific schools)
• Significant number of research projects are carried out in Russia’s priority spheres of science and engineering.
• The total value of research work and development projects in 2009 – 85648.6 million rubles.
• The forecast for 2010 – over 100000 million rubles.
• “Formula Student TSU” project, that over the 3 years has developed two racing cars, visited international Formula Student competition in Italy (2008), taken part in 2 Moscow competitions, participated in the 5th Global Student Forum on Engineering Education in St.-Petersburg.
• Research projects of students that are high valued in Russian and international contests and shows.
• Creation, security and protection of intellectual property (department of intellectual property).

More than 10 international and All-Russian scientific, scientific and technical, methodological and practical conferences per year.
